A recent research study was conducted to examine the impact of a sedentary lifestyle (excessive time spent sitting/lying down) on an individual's cardiometabolic health.
What is Cardiometabolic Health & Why is it Important?
Cardiometabolic health (the healthiness of your heart, blood vessels, & metabolic system) plays a huge role in determining whether an individual gets heart disease, liver disease, type 2 diabetes, obesity, & blood clots.
The Consequence of a Sedentary Lifestyle & How To Counteract it
If you spend 10+ waking hours per day sitting/lying down, you are at a serious risk for many cardiometabolic risks. In order to combat a sedentary lifestyle, perform 60-75 minutes of moderate-vigorous exercise per day.
Examples of moderate-vigorous exercise:
Walking/Jogging
Biking
Running
Dancing
Swimming
Weight Lifting
Playing sports (tennis, basketball, soccer, etc)
